Understanding STDs
What Are Sexually Transmitted Diseases?
STDs are infections passed through sexual contact. Most show zero symptoms yet remain fully infectious. We screen for 12 infections through blood tests, urine STD tests, and STD swabs — testing is the only way to know your status.
Getting screened is one of the most responsible things you can do — for yourself and the people close to you. Self-testing is available for those without symptoms. There is no judgment here.
How They Spread
Via vaginal, anal, or oral sex. Caused by bacteria (Chlamydia, Gonorrhoea, Syphilis), viruses (HIV, HSV — Herpes Simplex Virus, HPV — Human Papillomavirus, Hepatitis B/C), and parasites (Trichomonas).
The Silent Threat
Most STDs are fully asymptomatic — carriers show no signs yet remain infectious to partners. The only way to know your status with certainty is to test.
Why Early Detection Matters
Untreated infections can lead to infertility, organ damage, and significantly increased HIV susceptibility. Early testing changes outcomes.
Protect Your Partners
Knowing your status is the most responsible thing you can do for the people you care about. Untreated infections spread silently without anyone knowing.
Not sure which STDs you should be tested for? The cards below explain what each infection is in plain language. Your doctor will recommend the right tests based on your history — you don't need to figure this out alone.

Timing Your Test
Understanding STD Window Periods
A window period is simply the gap between when you were exposed and when a test can give you a reliable result. Test too soon and the result may say negative even if you're infected — because the virus hasn't built up enough in your body yet. Your doctor will tell you exactly when to test based on your situation.
Why Window Periods Matter
Testing before the window period ends can produce a false negative — even if you are infected. Timing your test correctly is essential for an accurate result.
When to Retest
If your initial test falls within the window period, your doctor will schedule a confirmatory test. A negative result outside the window period provides reliable reassurance.
Results in 2–5 Working Days
All STD test results are returned within 2–5 working days. Your doctor delivers results via a secure, private channel.
Unsure which test you require or window period applies to you? Our doctors assess your history and recommend the right panel during your consultation.
